9/28/64 PZ- Repeal of Building Line I or
The owner of Lots 4, 5, and 6., Block 12, Walkers Addition, has requested that a
buildins line established by Ordinance 1488, July 24, 1928, be repealed in order
to permit the construction of an apartment project in the 4300 block of Baldwin
Street. The established building line between Bolt and Broadus Streets is
shown on the attached map.
BalAwin Street was originally under consideration as a major thoroughfare
extending south of Berry along Henderson, Baldwin and 5th Avenue to Felix Street,
which was the City's south limits in 1928. Construction of the North-South
Fr
eeway and location of the Fort Worth Quartermaster Depot blocking extension
of,a thoroughfare south of Felix Street, has eliminated the need to retain the
building lines for future thoroughfare street improvements on Baldwin Street.
The Planning Department reports that Baldwin Street is not included on the
master thoroughfare plan, and the Public Works and Traffic Engineering Departments
do not object to the proposed repeal of the building line. No existing public
or private utilities would be affected by removal of the building line.
An ordinance repealing Ordinance 1488 has been prepared, which if adopted, will
enable the property owner to begin construction immediately.
City Council action on the ordinance is requested.
