Miffsaw POLICY PROPOSAL DATE FILE NUMBER SUBJECT PAGE_OF 1 5/3/77 CP-26 Electronic Voting System I PROPOSAL PROPOSED BY: Councilman CITY MANrSV I W Richard Newkirk On many occasions it is difficult if not impossible for the public, news media and the City Secretary to tell exactly the vote of each council member. To correct the present system and enable all interested persons to immediately tell who has voted for what, I propose that the City install an electronic board for recording each vote of the Council. I believe that this board can be constructed wby the City staff at a reasonable cost to the City. Fiscal Note The Communications Division estimates, based on proposals received in August of 1975, that the equipment necessary for this type of system would cost between $6,000 and $6,500. Should Council approve this proposal funds could be made available from Council Contingency Allowance. Manager's Comment Staff fully supports this proposal. Legality There are no foreseeable legal problems. poll Richard C. Newkirk, Councilman CITY OFFORT .THF SUBJECT MATTER OF a , WAS PRESENTED TO T._ C.
