6/30/77 CP-32 American Indian Center Funding
PROPOSAL PROPOSED BY: CITY MANAGE ' EVI
Woodie Woods
In the Council meeting on June 23, 1977, the proposal to fund the American Indian
Center was denied. This center has been a participating agency in the Mayor's
Council On Youth Opportunity (MCOYO) since it was established and is included in
the Summer Recreation Program for Youth (SYRP) and the U.S.D.A. Summer Food Service
Program for Children.
It is 'proposed that two staff positions be funded at the American Indian Center
from SYRP funds allowing the Center to conduct the SYRP and Food Program. The
positions would be funded from July 5, to August 12, 1977 at a salary of $264.92
per pay period.
Since the start of the Summer Youth Recreation Program was delayed from June 1 to
June 29, 1977, there are sufficient salary savings to fund two recreation instructors,
salaries totaling $1,589.52, without increasgng the amount budgeted for salaries in
the SYRP grant.
The Community Services Agency has been contacted and has approved this proposal.
