White Road PAGE 1 OF 4/3/79 CP-52 PROPOSAL PROPOSED BY: Councilmen CITY MANAGER'S REVIEW Louis Zapata & Jeff Davis i 4y-Z2=12 4 Because of the concerns of the adjacent property owners along the existing Jo n T. White Road from Loop 820 to Randol Mill Road, it is proposed that a divided roadway of 26 feet on each side with a median of 28 feet centered in the middle of the 120 foot right-of-way be built in lieu of the original proposed single 36-foot roadway. Recommendations It is recommended that a double 26-foot lane roadway with a 28-foot median be designed for John T. White Road on a 120-foot right-of-way. Legality All relevant Department of Law comments on this matter were submitted by letter to the Mayor and Council dated March 26, 1979. Fiscal Note If this recommendation is adopted by the Council, subsequent authorization will be required to transfer available funds into the appropriate construction project and to allot previously authorized but unallotted funds. City Manager's Comments The double 26-foot roadway based on a 28-foot median will initially cost the City approximately $800,000 more than a single 36-foot roadway. Flexibility in design of the roadway is needed on both the west end and the east end of the project to allow for future development. A preliminary street layout will be furnished to the City Council plainly showing the proposed plan before final design plans are implemented. As of March 23, 1979 (I.R. No. 3283), a total of $349,800 is available in 901 unspecified account from the 1975 bond issue for thoroughfares. There is also a total of $671,000 set aside for the Craig Street project which the City Council deleted from the Capital Improvement Program on July 25, 1978 (MSC G-3880) . These funds are available for allocation depending upon future Council action.
