Newkirk The City Council of the City of Fort Worth has previously gone on record as supporting passage of House Bill 461, which is a re-enactment in an improved form of Article 1200ff, Revised Civil Statutes and would authorize the creation, by enabling ordinance, of municipal courts of record in the City of Fort Worth. The legislation as is presently pending has been drafted by our Department of Law, has been amended pursuant to the recommendation and request of the City Manager (with respect to appointment of the Court Clerk) and is strongly endorsed by the staff. It is due to come up for House action on Saturday,12 May, and assuming it passes at that time, it is the House sponsor's recommendation (Doyle Willis) that a ratifying and confirming resolu- tion by our current City Council would preclude any possible contention when the bill is considered by the Senate that an endorsement by a previous Council is not necessarily indicative of the current Council's opinion with respect thereto. Recommendation That the City Council reaffirm its position supporting passage of House Bill 461 authorizing municipal courts of record in the City of Fort Worth.
