--OE12/19/80 CP-66 Gateway Park Land Gift
PROPOSAL PROPOSED BY: C TY MANAGESUR VIEW
Mayor Woodie Woods
Background
On January 15, 1980, the City Council authorized the City Manager to accept 80 acres
of land donated by the Amon G. Carter Foundation and 26 acres donated by Mr. Amon G.
Carter, Jr. , and Mrs. Ruth Carter Johnson for Gateway Park. Without this gift it is
doubtful that Gateway Park as envisioned by the City Council, Park and Recreation
r Advisory Board, Streams and Valleys Committee, and the citizenry of Fort Worth would
be possible.
This land gift coupled with the approved Capital Improvement Program should provide the
necessary funds for the successful acquisition of Gateway Park.
Proposal
.1
Since the entire Community is indebted to the donors for this generous gift, I propose
that the attached Resolution be adopted by the City Council.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the City Council approve the attached Resolution.
Legality
There are no legal implications.
Fiscal Note
There is no fiscal impact.
City Manager's Comments
I concur that this land gift will assist the City to make Gateway Park another com-
munity focal point to be used and cherished by all the citizens of Fort Worth.
