Y�NIANAGER'S REVIE Mayor Woodie Woods I ) Fort Worth/Tarrant County has been selected by the National Assembly of National Voluntary Health and Social Welfare Organizations as one of three locations in the nation to receive technical assistance for a collaboration program for youth serving agencies. The National Assembly is made up of traditional youth serving agencies such as the National Council YMCA, National Board YWCA, Boy Scouts of America, Girl Scouts of the USA, etc. The National Assembly has sponsored colla- boration programs in Spokane, Washington; Oakland, California; the State of Connecticut; and Tuscon, Arizona. In each of these programs, the purpose was to coordinate existing resources to provide for the needs of a particular youth group. Here in Tarrant County, the target group selected is "school age youth out of school." The Tarrant County Youth Collaboration Planning Committee and a Task Force from the Junior League have been working to develop a collaboration among youth serving agencies in Tarrant County. A Youth Collaboration Conference is being planned for November 19, 1980. The objectives of the Conference are as follows: 1. To provide .invited agencies with enough information to obtain a broad commitment to participate in the Tarrant County Youth Collaboration; 2. To present and define from a multi-agency perspective the initial focus area of "school age youth out of school"; 3. To develop a plan of action involving as many local agencies as possible. to address the problem of "school age youth out of school". More than two hundred agencies from Tarrant County are being invited to attend this conference. Proposal The Planning Committee is requesting supportive resolutions from the Tarrant County Commissioners' Court, Fort Worth City Council, Arlington City Council, and the Fort Worth Independent School District Board. POLICY PROPOSAL (cont'd) PAGE_OF Recommendation It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached resolution in support of the Tarrant County Youth Collaboration Planning Committee and the conference planned for November 19, 1980. APPROVED BY CITY COUNCIL NOV 5 1980 C1 ecretary of the CUf of lott Woxth, Taz#A CITY OF FORT WORTH A Resolution WHEREAS, the National Assembly of National Voluntary Health and Social Welfare Organizations represents several youth serving agencies; and WHEREAS, the National Assembly has been involved in collaborating efforts with youth serving agencies in different areas of the Nation; and WHEREAS, the National Assembly has selected Fort Worth/Tarrant County as one of three sites in the Nation to receive technical assistance this year for a collaboration program; and WHEREAS, the Tarrant County Youth Collaboration Planning Committee together with a task force from the Junior League has been working to form a collaboration of youth serving agencies in Tarrant County; and WHEREAS, the Junior League and the National Council of Jewish Women of Fort Worth are sponsoring a Youth Collaboration Conference on November 19, 1980, NOW BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the Fort Worth City Council supports a collaboration of youth serving agencies and organizations committed to a holistic approach to meeting the needs of youth, particularly youth at risk in Tarrant County.
