ORDINANCE NO g ~'~
AN ORDINANCE SPECIFYING THE AUTHORIZED POSITIONS
IN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND CREATING NEW POSI-
TIONS IN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT PROVIDING A
SEVERABILITY CLAUSE AND NAMING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE

WHEREAS the Police Chief has requested the City Council to
specify and authorize the number of positions in the Police
Department for the 1981-1982 Fiscal Year (including the creation of
17 additional Officers and one additional Sergeant effective
April 1 1982) and
WHEREAS the specification and authorization of these positions
is a necessity NOW THEREFORE
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH
TEXAS
SECTION 1
That the following positions of which 17 Officers and 1
Sergeant shall not be effective until April 1 1982 are the only
positions authorized in the City of Fort Worth Police Department for
the Fiscal Year 1981-1982
500 Officers
140 Corporals/Detectives
86 Sergeants
33 Lieutenants
11 Captains
4 Deputy Chiefs
774 TOTAL
SECTION 2
That all of the declarations and findings contained in the pre-
amble of this ordinance are made a part hereof and shall be fully
effective as part of the ordained subject matter of this ordinance

That if any section part of a section or provision of any sec-
tion of this ordinance shall be held to be void ineffective or un-
constitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction the holding of
such section part of a section or provision of any section to be

void ineffective or unconstitutional for any cause whatsoever shall
in no way affect the validity of the remaining sections and provi-
sions of the ordinance which shall remain in full force and effect
That this ordinance shall become effective and be in full force
and effect from and after the date of its passage as provided by
law and it is so ordained

Recommendation
It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached ordinance
specifying Civil Service staffing in the Pc1i..e and Fite Departments
for fiscal year 1981-82 as indicated above
