PROPOSAL
It is proposed that the City Council adopt the attached resolution supporting the display of a USAF B36J
aircraft at Naval Air Station,Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base.
DISCUSSION:
Over 380 B-36 bombers were manufactured at Air Force Plant 4, Carswell Air Force Base, by the
Consolidated Vultee Aircraft Company(Convair),and crews from two Carswell Air Force Base bomb wings,
the 7m and I Vh Bomb Wings, flew the B-36 world-wide in the Cold War era to protect and defend the United
States of America.
Approximately four acres at the Joint Reserve Base have been offered for a museum site for the B-36J.
Adoption of the attached resolution would demonstrate that the Fort Worth City Council supports the display
of this historic aircraft, in an enclosed area for proper preservation and protection, to be available to the
residents of Fort Worth and other visitors who appreciate the technology of the time and training and
commitment of the aircrews who flew this magnificent flying machine.
LEGALITY:
The Department of Law finds that this proposal is legal and that it is within the authority of the City Council.
FISCAL NOTE:
The Finance Director certifies that the approval will have no material effect on City funds.
CITY MANAGER'S COMMENT:
The City Manager has no objections to the resolution.

TO SUPPORT THE DISPLAY OF A USAF B-36J AT NAVAL AIR STATION,
FORT WORTH,JOINT RESERVE BASE
WHEREAS, Over 380 B-36 bombers were manufactured at Air Force Plant 4, Carswell Air
Force Base,by the Consolidated Vultee Aircraft Company(Convair); and
WHEREAS, Crews from two Carswell Air Force Base bomb wings,.the 7`h and .l.Id' Bomb
Wings,flew the B-36 world-wide in the Cold War era to protect and defend the United States of America;
and
WHEREAS, The last B-36 manufactured at Convair is currently located on a gravel lot at
Lockheed Martin Company and is in need of a suitable facility; and
WHEREAS, Over 400 volunteers have spent over 40,000 hours to restore the last B-36; and
WHEREAS, Approximately four acres at the Joint Reserve Base have been offered for a
museum site for the B-36J.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FORT WORTH,TEXAS:
That the Fort Worth City Council supports the display of this historic aircraft, aptly named"City
of Fort Worth", in an enclosed area for proper preservation and protection, and to be available to the
residents of Fort Worth and other visitors who appreciate the technology of the time and the training and
commitment of the aircrews who flew this magnificent flying machine.
