**G-5165 iof
The Crash/Res~:ue Station at Meacham Field was built about 1962 The two
level flat roof has been leaking for several years Several attempts have
been made to patch the roof, however none has been successful for any signi-
ficant period of time The acoustical ce~.ling has fallen in numerous places
and the remaining ceiling is badly water-soaked and stained The mortar
filling the mesh support columns has disintegY°ated and washed away Water
drains ix~._to the restroom area leaving hazardous pools standing Each rain
storm causes additional damage to the station`s interior
Although no funds for repair have been budgeted in the Aviation Department
operating budget Public. Works and Building Maintenance personnel agree that
the roof repair is urgently needed
Financing
The estimated cost of repair is $7 500 Funds are available in this amount
in the Retained Earnings of the Airport Fund
Recommendation
It ~:s recommended that the City Council
1) Adopt the attached Supplemental Appropriation Ordinance appropriating
$7 500 from the Retained Earnings of the Airport Fund to Account No
55-20-00 and,
2) Authorize the Purchasing Division to proceed to advertise for bids
for roof repairs as outlined above
