HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 3712-02-2009A Resolution No.3''~12-02 2009 AUTHORIZING THE APPLICATION FOR AND ACCEPTANCE OF $225,000.00 IN GRANT FUNDS FROM THE FISCAL YEAR 2009 CRIMINAL JUSTICE DIVISION GRANT FUNDS AND THE MAHING OF ASSURANCES REQUIRED BY THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE DIVISION OF THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE WHEREAS the Cnmmal Justice Drvision of the Governor's Office (CJD) is funding grant projects throughout the State addressing transnational gangs, and WHEREAS the City of Fort Worth (City) by and through its Police Department, has written a grant application for submission to the CJD for the following project: 1 Overtime for officers. This project will support the Police Department's inittative m reducing violent gang crimes, specifically gangs with affiliations outside the United States. No. 184$6-02- ... .. 2009 DATE Tuesday February 17 2009 REFERENCE NO C-23355 LOG NAME 35GANGGRANT09 SUBJECT Adopt Resolution Authorizing the Application for and Acceptance of $225 000 00 in Grant Funds from Fiscal Year 2009 Transnational Gang Grant from the Office of the Governor's Criminal Justice Division and the Making of Assurances Required by the Criminal Justice Division of the Governor's Office Adopt Appropriation Ordinance RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council 1 Adopt the attached resolution a Authorizing the City Manager to apply for accept, reject, alter or terminate if awarded the Fiscal Year 2009 Transnational Gang Grant from the Office of the Governor Criminal Justice Division b Authorizing the City Manager to designate the Assistant City Manager who oversees the Police Department as the authorized official to accept, reject or alter the Fiscal Year 2009 Transnational Gang Grant after it is awarded and c Providing assurance that funds will be returned to the Office of the Governor Criminal Justice Division in full in the event of loss or misuse of Criminal Justice Division Grant funds 2 Authorize the City Manager to enter into a contract with the Office of the Governor for the implementation of the Fiscal Year 2009 Transnational Gang Grant; 3 Authorize the City Manager to transfer $40,275 00 from the General Fund to the Grants Fund for the City's match of associated fringe benefits cost; and 4 Adopt the attached appropriation ordinance increasing estimated receipts and appropriations in the Grants Fund by $265,275 00 upon receipt of the grant.
