SUPPORTING THE TEXAS HIGH SPEED RAIL AND TRANSPORTATION
EFFORTS TO IMPROVE CONNECTIVITY IN THE STATE OF TEXAS
THROUGH THE DEVELOPMENT OF HIGH SPEED INTERCITY
PASSENGER RAIL
WHEREAS the City of Fort Worth is experiencing unparalleled growth such that it
currently ranks as the 17th largest city in the United States and
WHEREAS the City of Fort Worth s continued growth economic development
efforts and congestion mitigation objectives would be enhanced by the timely and
successful development of high speed intercity passenger rail in North Texas and
WHEREAS the City of Fort Worth appreciates the value of regional cooperation
and collaboration in delivering critical services and transportation solutions to the
residents of North Texas and
WHEREAS over 7 500 000 people live and work within a 50 mile radius of
Da11asJFort Worth International Airport due to the quality of life made possible by a
low cost high quality of living and growing employment opportunities recreational
activities and business opportunities and
WHEREAS high speed intercity passenger rail is defined as passenger rail capable
of operating at speeds in excess of 185 miles per hour and
WHEREAS Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport is the regional international
airport for the Dallas Fort Worth region and the third busiest airport in the world
and

WHEREAS the planned North Texas regional rail network would benefit from the
development of high speed intercity/interstate passenger rail through increased
ridership and greater connectivity to locations outside of the Fort Worth/Dallas
area
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF FORT WORTH TEXAS
THAT the support of the City of Fort Worth is expressly conditioned upon the
development of high speed rail into Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and
THAT North Texas should be connected to the state s mayor metropolitan areas via
a safe economical and efficient high speed intercity passenger rail and multi modal
transportation corridor and
THAT North Texans should be served by a hzgh speed rail station in the terminal
area of Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport property thereby providing
seamless intermodal connectivity not only to the airlines served by the Airport but
also seamlessly serving the regional commuter rail system and
THAT Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport be encouraged to support the
development of high speed rail into its terminal facilities and
THAT this resolution be adopted and circulated to the Texas Congressional
Delegation the Governor of Texas members of the Texas Legislature the Texas
Transportation Commission, the Texas Department of Transportation Cities
Counties Chambers of Commerce Economic Development Corporations and
Metropolitan Planning Organizations along the federally designated South Central
and Gulf Coast High Speed Rail Corridors and to the media and others and is
accordingly so ordered
