HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 3647-08-2008A Resolution NO 3647-08-2008 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS, PROPOSING THE INCREASE OF TAX REVENUE FROM THE AD VALOREM TAX RATE FOR FISCAL YEAR 2008 -2009 AND SETTING PUBLIC HEARING DATES ON THE TAX RATE WHEREAS, in accordance with Chapter X Section 2 of the City Charter the proposed ad valorem tax levy ordinance for the Fiscal Year 2008/09 was introduced at the City Council meeting held on August 12 2008 and WHEREAS per the provisions of Senate Bill No 18 passed by the Texas State Legislature and effective immediately upon passage which amends Section 26 OS of the Tax Code the City Council will provide for and conduct two public hearings on the proposed tax rate and provide notice of these hearings and, WHEREAS at such hearings the Fort Worth City Council will afford adequate opportunity for proponents and opponents of the tax rate to present their views NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS 1 That an ad valorem tax rate of $0 8550 per $100 00 of taxable valuation of properties m the City of Fort Worth is being proposed for Fiscal Year 2008/09 2 That the City Council of the City of Fort Worth will hold two public hearings on a proposal to increase total revenue from properties on the tax roll in 2007 by 3 35 percent RESOLUTION NO 3647 08 2008 3 That the public hearings will be held on September 2 2008 at 7 OOp m and September 9 2008 at 7 00 pm in the City Council Chambers Fort Worth Municipal Building 1000 Throckmorton Street, Fort Worth, Texas 76102 and an adequate opportunity will be afforded for proponents and opponents of the proposed tax rate to present their views 4 That the City Secretary shall publish notice of such hearings as provided m Section 26 06 as amended by Senate Bill 18 of the Tax Code of the State of Texas Adopted this 19th day of August, 2008 APPROVED AS TO FORM AND LEGALITY David Yett City torney APPPOVEq CITY CQUNCtL AUG 1 9 2008 ~~~ City Secretary of 4he City ®f Fort Worth, Texas
