FOR CONTINUATION OF DECLARATION OF LOCAL DISASTER
FOR THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS
WHEREAS, as a result of the Governor of Texas having declared a state of disaster based
upon the existence of the threat of widespread damage, m~ury loss of life and property and the after
effects that may be caused by Hurricane Ike m September 2008 the Crty of Fort Worth may receive an
influx of a substantial number of evacuees, and
WHEREAS the Crty of Fort Worth anticipates being requested to provide a variety of
emergency and recovery service resources to assist evacuees from hurricane ravaged areas m disaster
recovery and
WHEREAS, on September 10 2008 the Mayor Pro Teen of the Crty of Fort Worth determined
that extraordinary measures may need to be taken to alleviate the suffering of people, and, therefore, the
Mayor Pro Tem declared a state of local disaster for the City of Fort Worth, as allowed under Section
418 108 of the Texas Government Code and
WHEREAS, under Texas -law the state of local disaster declaration by the Mayor Pro Tem of
the Crty of Fort Worth can only be m effect for a period of not ~r>,:,frT„nanxsever~~?) days, unles::'~~~
same is continued by the City Council of the City-of_Fort Worth, rid --~~
WHEREAS since September 10 2008 the situation m the hurricane ravaged areas and the
large number of evacuees leads the City Council of the City of Fort Worth to believe that the evacuees
wilLneed emergency and recovery services for more than seven (7) days.
NOW, THERFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FORT WORTH, TEXAS
I.
That the state-of local-disaster declaration for the City of Fort- Worth shall continue for a period
of not more than sixty (60) days from the date hereof.
II.
That the Emergency Operational Plan of the Crty of Fort Worth shall continue to be
implemented.

CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS

widespread damage, injury loss of life and property and the after effects that may
be caused by Hurricane Ike m September 2008 the City of Fort Worth may
receive an influx of a substantial number of evacuees, and
WHEREAS, the Crty of Fort Worth anticipates being requested to
provide a variety of emergency and recovery service resources to assist evacuees
from hurricane ravaged areas in disaster recovery and
WHEREAS, the Mayor Pro Tem of the Crty of Fort Worth has
determined that extraordinary measures may need to be taken to alleviate the
suffering of people
NOW, THERFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE MAYOR PRO
TEM OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS
I.
That a state of disaster is declared for the Crty of Fort Worth.
II.
That the Crty's Emergency Operational Plan has been implemented.
III.
That the state of disaster shall continue for a period of not more than seven
(7) days from the date hereof, unless the same is continued by the Crty Council of
the City of Fort Worth.
IV
That this proclamation shall take effect immediately from and after rts
issuance.
