HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 3501-07-2007RESOLUTION NO. 3501-07 2007 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS, ASSIGNING MEMBERSHIP TO THE CITY OF FORT WORTH'S SUSTAINABILITY AND GREEN BUILDING TASK FORCE WHEREAS, the estimated population of the City of Fort Worth in 2007 exceeded 669 000 people; and WHEREAS, the City of Fort Worth is commonly recognized as the fastest growing large City in the United States of America, and WHEREAS, the North Central Texas Council of Governments has estimated that this rate of growth will continue; and WHEREAS, the water, air transportation, and other resources are finite, and WHEREAS, the future success of the City of Fort Worth is dependant upon its ability to protect and provide for the needs of its residents; and WHEREAS, proper planning is needed to ensure that appropriate policies are in place to assure that these resources are protected and programs are in place that will ensure future residents are able to enjoy a high quality of life; and WHEREAS, the success of any sustainability or green building program is dependant upon the cooperation of the affected community and WHEREAS, amulti-disciplined planning group will be needed to identify the varied and unique needs of the community and the applicability of proposed policy and programs in the City and WHEREAS, residents and business leaders have stepped forward to embrace the challenge of identifying a sustainabihty and green building program for the City of Fort Worth. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESPOVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS, THAT The attached slate of participants constitutes the City of Fort Worth s Sustainability and Green Building Task Force.
