AN ORDINANCE VACATING, ABANDONING AND CLOSING
THAT PORTION OF MAYDELL STREET IN THE 1200 BLOCK
A WIDTH OF 50' AND A LENGTH OF APPROXIMATELY 85 '
FROM NORTH HAMPTON STREET EAST TO DECATUR AVENUE;
PROVIDING FOR THE REVERSION OF THE FEE IN SAID
LAND; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HERE-
WITH AND PROVIDING THAT THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE-
COME EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1.
That the portion of Maydell Street in the 1200 Block
a width of 50 ' and a length of approximately 85 ' from North
Hampton Street east to Decatur Avenue be and the same is
hereby vacated, abandoned and permanently closed as a street
or public thoroughfare of any kind or character whatever.
SECTION 2.
That the fee to the land in the above described portion
of Maydell Street is hereby released and will revert to the
adjacent owners as provided by law, SAVE AND EXCEPT that
easements are reserved for any and all existing utilities.
SECTION 3.
That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 4.
That this ordinance shall take effect and be in full
force and effect from and after the date of its passage and
it is so ordained.

' Mr. Sam H. Schooler, owner of the north 44 feet of Lots 1 and 2, Block 36,
Fostepco Heights, and Mr. Saul M. Lopez, Jr. , owner of Lot 2, Block 35,
Fostepco Heights, owners of all abutting property, have requested that the
City vacate Maydell Street in the 1200 block a width of 50 feet and a length
of approximately 85 feet from N. Hampton Street east to Decatur Avenue, as
shown on the attached mip.
The subject property, acquired by dedication, is open but unpaved and contains
no other improvements.
The City Plan Commission, after reviewing this request, concurs with reviewing
City departments and private utility companies and recommends approval pro-
vided that 1) the street is physically closed with curb and gutter or reduced
to a driveway approach when improvements are made, 2) the vacated right-of-
way is replatted with adjoining property, and 3) an easement is retained for
an existing storm drain. A satisfactory replat has been submitted to the
City staff.
Recommendation
It is recommended that an ordinance be adopted vacating the subject right-of-
way as requested.
