SUBJECT AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO THE ENGINEERING AGREEMENT WITH MONTGOMERY
WATSON AMERICAS, INC. FOR DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT OF
THE MCCART AVENUE PUMP STATION AND GROUND STORAGE TANK
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that The City Council authorize the City Manager to execute Amendment No. 1 to
the engineering agreement with Montgomery Watson Americas, Inc. (City Secretary Contract No.
26319) for the McCart Avenue Pump Station and Ground Storage Tank, increasing the total contract
cost by $72,200 to $554,400.
DISCUSSION:
On Octobr 10, 2000 (M&C C-18284), the City Council authorized an engineering agreement with
Montgomery Watson Americas, Inc. for design and construction management of McCart Avenue Pump
Station and Ground Storage Tank. The pump station and ground storage tank were required due to
increasing wholesale and retail demands in the Southside III pressure plane.
Amendment No. 1 will provide for additional design, construction management and inspection services.
The pump station was identified in the current water system master plan as requiring 15 MGD (million
gallons per day) capacity. After the project was first authorized the projected water demands in
Southside III pressure plane increased and must be expanded to 33 MGD capacity, requiring additional
engineering services for design, construction management, and inspection.
Montgomery Watson Americas, Inc. is in compliance with the City M/WBE Ordinance by committing to
an additional 31 % M/WBE participation on this amendment No. 1% M/WBE participation. The City
goal on this project is 17%.
FISCAL INFORMATION/CERTIFICATION:
The Finance Director certifies that funds are available in the current capital budget, as appropriated, of
the Water Capital Project Fund.
