HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 3552-11-2007RESOLUTION NO 3552 11 2007 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH TEXAS CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL ELECTION HELD ON NOVEMBER 6, 2007 FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF SAID CITY THE QUESTION OF WHETHER THE CITY OF FORT WORTH SHOULD BE AUTHORIZED TO ESTABLISH COLLECTIVE BARGAINING FOR THE FIREFIGHTERS IF A MAJORITY OF THE AFFECTED EMPLOYEES FAVOR REPRESENTATION BY AN EMPLOYEES ASSOCIATION WHEREAS, on August 28 2007 the City Council of the City of Fort Worth adopted Ordinance No 17732-08-2007 later amended by Ordinance No 17793-09-2007 calling for and ordering an election to be held on Tuesday November 6 2007 for the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters of said City the question of whether the City of Fort Worth should be authorized to establish collective bargaining for the firefighters if a majority of the affected employees favor representation by an employees association and WHEREAS on November 6 2007 a special election was held at which the qualified voters of the City had the opportunity to vote on the question of whether the City of Fort Worth should be authorized to establish collective bargaining for the firefighters if a majority of the affected employees favor representation by an employees association and WHEREAS pursuant to Chapter 67 of the Texas Election Code the City Council of the City of Fort Worth is required to canvass the returns and declare the results of the election NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT' WORTH SECTION 1 That the declarations and findings contained in the preamble of this Resolution are hereby found to be true and correct and shall be made a part hereof SECTION 2. That the City Council hereby finds that the election for Collective Bargaining was held on November 6 2007 at which election qualified voters were given the oppori:unity to vote for the purpose of authorizing establishment of collective bargaining for firefighters SECTION 3 That the City Council further finds and declares that the returns for such election are as follows. SECTION 4.
