WORTH PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT , TEX. ENGINEERING DIVISION ASSESSMENT PAVING OF 7 LOCATIONS MEADOWBROOK AREA PROJECT 097-24000-120 RESUME OF THE PROJECT On March 30, 1964, the Engineering Division of the Public Works Department conducted a Neighborhood Hearing at the Eastern Hills Elementary School for the Assessment Paving at 7 Locations Meadowbrook Area. Approximately 64 property owners attended the hearing. Unit No. 1 - Canton Drive : In May of 1963, a petition was received requesting the improvement of Canton Drive from Lancaster to Meadowbrook. The original petition did not represent a majority of the front footage; however, it was accepted because the petition included the signatures of 59.6 per cent of the owners living on the street. Improvement of Canton Drive from Lancaster to Craig Street, Unit No. 1, will benefit the traffic pattern of the general area. The State Highway Department has paved Canton Drive from Rosedale to Lancaster because traffic on East Rosedale has been diverted onto Canton Drive due to the termination of Rosedale by intersection improvements at Lancaster and IH 820. As a result of the traffic revision a traffic signal has been placed at Canton Drive and East Lancaster. Unit No. 1 of Canton Drive will connect with Craig Street which has recently been initiated for improvement by Council action. Unit No. 2 - Canton Drive: The second unit of Canton Drive, from Craig Street to Meadowbrook Drive, was initiated by the same petition described in Unit No. 1. A number of property owners appeared at the Neighborhood Hearing and objected to the improvement of Canton Drive. This portion of Canton Drive, comparable to a county road facility, has an existing penetration asphalt surface on a gravel base, and the crown of the street is high and not suitable for the construction of curb and gutter. There is no indication that the adjacent property owners have ever participated in the cost of pavement. A petition has been received opposing the improvement of both Units 1 and 2 of Canton Drive. This petition represents 64 per cent of the front footage of the combined projects. Canton Drive is the only City street in the general area that extends from East Rosedale to Meadowbrook Drive. Unit No. 3 - Greenlee Street: No objections. Unit No. 4 - Haynes Avenue: No objections. Unit No. 5 - Martha Land: No objections. Unit No. 6 - Tierney Road: One property owner favored the paving but expressed opposition to the assessment. - 0.3 l - `` 14Af CT° .M " to IONS 4 f I'e. zEy- .. , 1 # '.- ''. ..• 711,ei1Ni Ca i IRION AVE ..-.. f i • •' • .-_,F ~ stir"PK'''. ;: .I. Between Brandt Street and Wilson Road it has a 22 foot roadway and a penetration asphalt surface. From Brandt Street to Meadowbrook Drive, Jenson Road has curb and gutter and a 30 foot roadway. A portion adjacent to Blocks 1 and 2, Hoggard Heights Addition, has been constructed to line and grade previously by the developer of the area, thereby qualifying the section for reconstruction and requiring no assessment to be levied for the paving. The remaining portion of Jenson Road has been assessed in accordance with standard assessment paving policy.
