Additionally appreciation is extended to the Fort Worth Chamber and Downtown Fort Worth Inc. for providing funding for the study DISCUSSION Over the last five years with the growth of construction and development in the City of Fort Worth City staff in many departments have struggled to keep up with the growing demand for review permitting and inspection activities A number of reviews have been performed and some improvements have been made however resource restrictions and insufficient interdepartmental cooperation has sustained the problems. In December of 2005 the Fort Worth Chamber in partnership with Downtown Fort Worth Inc engaged Zucker Systems, Inc. to perform an outside review of the City of Fort Worth development processes. This is significant because it was funded by the private developers who have concerns with the impact of our operations on the timeliness of their projects. The firm completed their review in May of 2006 with a final report presented to the City Council on June 20 2006 This resolution is to emphasize the City Council's support of this effort. City staff have already established a multi-departmental implementation team that is meeting weekly to evaluate each recommendation establish priorities, and actualize the changes within the respective departments. An executive team consisting of the Assistant City Managers and the relevant Department Directors will be briefed monthly on the progress. The Development Advisory Committee will be consulted on a monthly basis to seek developer and Chamber of Commerce input on the progress Finally the Infrastructure and Transportation Committee will be briefed at least each quarter with a written report submitted to the fu11 Council at the same time This partnership with the support of the City Council is expected to achieve significant and tangible results that will focus on the goal of improving predictable and timely processes to serve customers while furthering the quality standards that are important to the future of Fort Worth FISCAL INFORMATION/CERTIFICATION Logname 06ZUCKER RES Page 1 of 2 The Finance Director certifies that this action has no material effect on City funds TO Fund/Account/Centers FROM Fund/Account/Centers Submitted for City Manager's Office b~ Dale Fisseler (6140) Originating Department Head.
