Kayser, City Secretary Mary-Margaret Lemons, General Counsel for Fort Worth Housing Solutions Naomi Byrne, President, Fort Worth Housing Solutions With a quorum of the City Council Members present, Mayor Price and Chair Attaway called the Joint Fort Worth City Council/Fort Worth Housing Solutions Board of Commissioners Meeting to order at 2:02 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7, 2017, in City Council Conference Room 290 of the Fort Worth City Hall, 200 Texas Street,Fort Worth, Texas. II. Welcome and Introductions—Mayor Betsy Price and Chair Terri Attaway CITY OF FORT WORTH,TEXAS JOINT FORT WORTH CITY COUNCIL/FORT WORTH HOUSING SOLUTIONS BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS MEETING MARCH 7, 2017 Page 2 of 2 III. Briefing on the Rental Assistance Demonstration Program and Redevelopment of Public Housing—Naomi Byrne,Fort Worth Housing Solutions President Ms. Byrne provided a briefing on the Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) Program and Redevelopment of Public Housing. She noted that the Fort Worth Housing Authority (FWHA) envisions communities with quality affordable housing that provides the foundation to improve lives including de-concentration of poverty in Public Housing by deploying low income units throughout Fort Worth and the redevelopment of Butler and Cavile and surrounding areas through RAD. RAD transfers the ownership of the public housing units into the Public Housing Authority (PHA) and provides the ability to transfer units/subsidy to other locations. Ms. Byrne also addressed various options the PHA has for partnership with developers for RAD. She also addressed the tax exempt status of Fort Worth Housing Solutions. She updated the Council on the progress to date. IV. Presentation on "Affordable Housing 101" Community Education Program — Aubrey Thagard, Director, Neighborhood Services Department, City of Fort Worth; and Michelle Gutt, Director, Office of Communications and Public Engagement Michelle Gutt updated the Council and the Board on the Affordable Housing 101 Community Education Program. This program is designed to educate all residents about the different types of quality affordable housing and dispel rumors and misinformation. There will be a video series, a webpage on affordable housing, a handout for public meetings and Neighborhood Association meetings, articles, and a social media campaign. There is a Community Affordable Housing Open House/Workshop tentatively scheduled for April. V.
