While drug traffickers Logname 35CJD-NARC K 9 Page 1 of 2 are constantly attempting to find more sophisticated ways of smuggling illegal drugs, the scenting abilities of sniffer dogs provide the only means of locating well-hidden narcotics If approved the City will receive $28 500 from the Office of the Governor Criminal Justice Division and the City will provide the matching funds of $9 500 from the State Awarded Assets Fund for a total award of $38 000 Authorization of the grant application allows implementation of the Narcotics Detector Canine program with the program beginning upon receipt of the awarded monies and ending one year from inception FISCAL INFORMATION/CERTIFICATION The Finance Director certifies that upon approval of the above recommendations, adoption of the attached appropriation ordinance and receipt of the grant, funds will be available in the current operating budget, as appropriated of the Grant Funds.
