DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE ELECTION HELD ON SATURDAY,
FEBRUARY 5, 2005, ON THE CONTINUATION OF THE FORT WORTH CRIME
CONTROL AND PREVENTION DISTRICT FOR FIVE YEARS AND THE
CONTINUATION OF THE DISTRICT'S ONE-HALF CENT SALES TAX FOR
FIVE YEARS
WHEREAS the Crame Control and Prevention Distract is governed by Chapter 363 of the Texas
Local Government Code; and
WHEREAS, on November 4 2004 the Board of Directors of the Fort Worth Cnme Control and
Prevention Distract adopted a Resolution calking for an election to be held on Saturday February 5
2005 on the continuation of the Fort Worth Cnme Control and Prevention Distract (the `Distract") for
five years and the continuation of the Distract sone-half cent sales tax for five years, and
WHEREAS on February 5 2005 the duly called and ordered election to consider continuation
of the Distract and its one-half cent sales tax was held, at which election the qualified voters of the
Distract had the opportunity to vote for or against the proposition authorazmg the continuation of the
Distract and its one-half cent sales tax, and
WHEREAS, on February 13 2005 the Board of Directors of the Fort Worth Crame Control and
Prevention Distract adopted a Resolution canvassing the votes and making certain findings concerning
the results of said election, a copy of which Resolution and the findings therein, is attached hereto and
made a part hereof; and
WHEREAS Chapter 363 of the Texas Local Government Code provides that the Distract shall
adopt a sales and use tax under Section 323 105 of the Texas Tax Code, for financing the operations of
the Distract m the same manner as a county under that section, and
WHEREAS pursuant to Section 323 405 of the Texas Tax Code, the City Council of the City of
Fort worth is required to declare by resolution the results of said election.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
WORTH, TEXAS
Section 1. That the matters and facts set forth m the Preamble of this Resolution are hereby found to
be true and correct.

Section 2. That the City Council hereby finds and declares that the election to continue the Dtstract
and its one-half cent sales tax for five years was held on Saturday February 5 2005
Section 3. That the City Council further finds and declares that at said election, the qualified voters
of the Distract were permitted to vote for or against the following Proposition.
`WHETHER THE FORT WORTH CRIME CONTROL AND
PREVENTION DISTRICT SHOULD BE CONTINUED FOR FNE (5)
YEARS AND THE CRIME CONTROL AND PREVENTION DISTRICT
SALES TAX OF ONE HALF CENT SHOULD BE CONTINUED FOR
FNE (5) YEARS
Section 4. That the City Council further finds and declares that of the total votes cast at said election
by the qualified voters of the Dtstract, there were 9,931 votes cast for the Proposition, and 1 081 votes
cast against the Proposition.
Section 5. That the City Council further finds and declares the result of the election to be that the
Proposition so submitted received a favorable ma~oraty vote to all respects and was approved by a
margin of 8,850 votes, that pursuant to Chapter 363 of the Texas Local Government Code,. the Fort
Worth Cnme Control and Prevention Dtstract is authonzed to continue operating within the prescribed
bouridaraes of the Dtstnct for an additional five years, that accordingly a local sales tax of one-half of
one percent has been authonzed to continue for an addtttonai five years; that said tax may continue to be
levied and collected as voted and provided by law to assist m funding the continuation of the Distract
and the carryfng out of the Distract s Cnme control and prevention plan, and rt is so ordered.
Section 6. That rt is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting of the Fort Worth City
Council, at which this Resolution was adopted, was open to the public and that public notice of the time,
place and purpose of said meeting was given, all as required by Chapter 551 of the Texas Government
Code.
Section 7. That this Resolution shall take effect and be m full force and effect from and after the
date of its adoption, said date being the 14t" day of February 2005
