Support for Low Income Housing Tax Credit Application

Whereas, the City of Fort Worths 2004 Comprehensive Plan is supportive of the
preservation improvement and development of affordable rental and ownership
housing
Whereas the Fort Worth Housing Authority ("FWHA') has a goal to improve the quality
of housing for its residents and to increase the number of affordable housing units
for low income City of Fort Worth residents
Whereas On August 9 2001 the City of Fort Worth passed Resolution 2760 to include in
its Consolidated Plan support for FWHA s Redevelopment Plan for replacement of
Ripley Arnold housing units including giving the highest priority to Low Income
Housing Tax Credit ("LIHTC") applications developed by FWHA
Whereas FWHA has been successful in locating mixed income housing in various
neighborhoods gaining the support and trust of neighborhoods
Whereas, FWHA has utilized various funding sources including LIHTCs to provide
mixed income housing
Whereas, FWHA through its affiliate Western Hills Affordable Housing Limited
Partnership has applied for a LIHTC award to renovate Cambridge Court
Apartments a vacant substandard complex and
Whereas, the Western Hills North Neighborhood Association is supportive of the
renovation and application
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS that the City of Fort Worth supports the application
of the Fort Worth Housing Authority and its affiliate Western Hills Affordable
Housing Limited Partnership to the Texas Department of Housing and Community
Affairs for Low Income Housing Tax Credits for the purpose of renovating the
Cambridge Court Apartments
