CONTINUATION OF DECLARATION OF LOCAL DISASTER IN THE CITY OF
FORT WORTH, TEXAS, IN RESPONSE TO HURRICANE RITA
WHEREAS, Texas Governor Rick Perry has signed a chsaster declaration upon a finding that
Hurricane Rita poses a threat of imminent disaster along the Texas coast beginning
September 20, 2005 and
WHEREAS, in response to Governor Perry's disaster declaration and upon a request for emergency
aid from the State of Texas, President Bush has issued an emergency disaster declaration,
thereby recognizing the immediate need for and authorizing emergency protective
measures in a11254 counties in the State of Texas; and
WHEREAS, mandatory evacuation of residents along the Texas coast and disaster conditions
throughout a large portion of Texas require emergency assistance of federal, state, and
local governmental entities to save lives, provide life-sustaining support, and protect
public health and safety and
WHEREAS, the state and federal governments' declarations of disaster in response to Hurricane Rita
have resulted in the evacuation of thousands of residents of the Texas coastal region, and
the City of Fort Worth has received and will continue to receive an influx of a substantial
number of evacuees in need of emergency services required to save lives, avert loss of
life and property and protect public health and safety and
WHEREAS, in response to the state of emergency resulting from Humcane Rita in all 254 Texas
counties, the City of Fort Worth has been requested to provide a variety of emergency
and recovery service resources to assist in disaster relief and recovery• and
WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of Fort Worth has determined that extraordinary measures must be
taken to alleviate the suffering of people and to protect public health and safety
NOW THEREFORE BE IT PROCLAIlVIED BY THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF FORT
WORTH, TEXAS
I.
That a state of disaster is declared for the City of Fort Worth
RESOLUTION NO 3258-09-2005 II,
That the City's Emergency Operational Plan has been implemented.
III.
That the state of disaster shall continue for a period of not more than seven days of the date
hereof, unless the same is continued by consent of the City Council of the Crty of Fort Worth, Texas.

That this proclamation shall take effect immediately from and after its issuance.

DECLARATION OF LOCAL DISASTER
CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS
WHEREAS, as a result of refexx~al from FEMA through the State of
Texas and Tazx•ant County the City of Foxt Worth has received an influx of a
substantial number of evacuees from Louisiana and other states in which there
exists a declazed state of disaster resulting from the widespread damage, injury
loss of Life and property and the .after effects caused by I~uaxicane Katrn2a zn
August 2005
WHEREAS, the City o#' Fort Worth has been requested to provide a
variety of emergency and x•ecovery service resources to assist the evacuees from
the Htuxicane ravaged azeas in disaster recoveiy~
Wi~REAS, the Mayor of the City of Fozt Worth has determined that
