Change Order 2 — Red Lion Flow Display
The purpose of this service call was to provide the wiring and devices to
allow automatic feeding of the polymer by the new Hach control system. Wiring
had to be added between the new Hach Control Panel and the existing Local and
Remote Belt Press Control Panels for each Belt Press #1 through #4. This wiring
was necessary to allow Hach to control the automatic feed of the polymer when
the selector switches were changed from manual to automatic on the polymer
controls at the local control panel at the belt press machine. Also the Hach
machine needed to monitor the new sludge flow meters as well as the new
polymer flow meters in order to be able to determine how much polymer should
be feed to each belt press machine.
There were 16 flow indicators on the first 4 belt press control panels, 8 on
the 4 Local Panels and 8 on the 4 Remote Panels. These 16 flow indicators were
never actually reading sludge flow or poly flow at all. Instead these indicators
were wired to analog outputs on the VFD drives controlling the polymer and
sludge pumps. These outputs were not giving an accurate indication of what the
flows actually were, only a rough guess of what the flows might be.
We removed the wiring from these 16 indicators from the VFD output
channels and wired them instead to the actual flow meter loops we had installed
so true readings of the actual flow rates could be displayed at the Local and
Remote Panels. In order to make this work we had to use 8 signal isolators to
overcome the single ended analog characteristics inherent to the existing Red
Lion Indicators installed in the Control Panels. Another issue we were confronted
with is 4 of the existing indicators turned out be either bad or broken and would
not allow us to re-scale them to display the true flows. We replaced these 4
indicators with new Red Lion displays.
We re-scaled all 16 indicators to show the true flow of the polymer and
sludge being feed to the four Belt Press's #1 through #4. We even scaled the
polymer indicators twice, the first time 0-15 gpm, the second time 0-30 gpm.

Change Order 4— Rework of Manual Control for Polymer
This service call was to add run and fail status to Final Feed Skid Polymer
Feed Panels. The Final Feed Skid Panel had a mixture of different control voltages
for controls and status. Our interface with these panels only had one run of
conduit thus limiting us to one voltage or the other without having to run
additional conduit runs in order to get the control and status we needed. Adding
these interposing relays allowed us to get what we needed using 24 vdc for wiring
for all the signals and control between the four panels thus elimination the need
for additional runs of conduit.
