WHEREAS, the electorate of the City of Fort Worth on October 19,
1965, overwhelmingly approved a $74.75 million bond proposal needed
for providing the citizens of Fort Worth with adequate municipal
services and continued growth and prosperity; and,
WHEREAS, local radio, television, and newspaper communications
media played a vital role in bringing the issues before the electorate,
including presentation of editorials in support of the bond program;
careful, accurate coverage of all news events relating to the bond
proposals; and the first hour-long radio simulcast in the City's
history, giving the citizens ' an opportunity to inform themselves
regarding various aspects of the proposed bond program; and,
WHEREAS, it is believed that the excellence of the coverage pro-
vided by the news media was an instrumental factor in the overwhelming
public support of this program; NOW,. THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS,
That the communications industry of the City of Fort Worth be com-
mended for performing an outstanding public service by providing
excellent reporting and editorial support in order to fully inform
the citizens of Fort Worth of all aspects of the municipal bond pro-
gram approved by the public on October 19, 1965.
