HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 26 WHEREAS, the local project to send Christmas gifts to members of the United States Armed forces serving in Viet Nam gained national recognition and national participatioa; and, WHEREAS, this project, designated "All-America Gift Lift," was an unqualified success, thereby reaffirming to the American service- men in Viet Haag, who are making a priceless sacrifice for us, that they are not forgotten man and women; and, WHEREAS, the suggestion for the "All-America Gift Lift" was made by firs. Janey Jones, and was nurtured to fruition by the Women's Division of the fort Worth Chamber of Commerce with Mrs. Jim Eagle aid Mrs. Edward Moore acting as Co-Chairwomen of the project; and WHEREAS. the many letters of appreciation from servicemen in Viet Has to the donors of the "All-America Gift Lift," to the local news media, and to the City Council attest to the success of the pro- ject; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS, That grateful acknowledgment be Sade of the idea and suggestion of Mrs. Janey Jones to send Christmas gifts to the members of the United States Armed forces in Viet Now and that sincere appreciation be expressed to the Women's Division of the fort Worth Chamber of Commerce for sponsoring the Gift Lift and to Mrs. Jim Eagle and Mrs. Edward Moore as Co-Chairwoman of the project. Adopted this the 27th day of December, A. D. 1965.
