R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, at the Texas Highway Department public hearing
held October 22, 1963, at the Lake Worth Fire Hall, it was sug-
gested that State and City representatives engage in discus-
sions to explore alternate alignments for the northwest quadrant
of Interstate Highway 820 which would avoid conflicts with the
projected development of a joint rail classification yard in
North Fort Worth and with land requirements for anticipated
runway extensions and other Meacham Field improvements; and,
WHEREAS, pursuant to such suggestions, the District High-
way Engineer and the City Planning, Public Works, Traffic
Engineering and Aviation Departments have engaged in such dis-
cussions and have reached tentative agreement upon the general
boundaries of an alignment of Interstate Highway 820 from
Interstate Highway 20 in West Fort Worth northward across Lake
Worth and eastward to a connection with Interstate Highway
35-West, approximately two miles north of State Highway 183;
and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Fort Worth is
vitally interested in the location of a proposed roadway which
will promote the orderly development of projected rail, air
and motor transportation facilities and industrial, commercial
and residential improvements in North Fort Worth; and,
WHEREAS, the proposed roadway is located largely within
the metropolitan area of the City of Fort Worth and the de-
fined extra-territorial jurisdiction thereof, which area and
territory has a community of interest with the City of Fort
Worth; and,
WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the City Council of the
City of Fort Worth that the proposed location of Interstate
Highway 820 necessarily should be designed and constructed in
�. such a manner as to provide adequately for thoroughfares and
proposed land uses contributing to the urban growth and develop-
ment of the City of Fort Worth; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
WORTH., TEXAS:
That the Texas Highway Department be advised of the recom-
mendation by the City Council that the proposed right-of-way of
Interstate Highway 820 be located within the limits of the area
shown in red on the attached map marked Exhibit "A" and that the
south right-of-way line of the proposed roadway be placed as
close to the south border of the shaded area as may be practicable.
