HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 31 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, the tolling of the Liberty Bell at Independence Hall, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at 2 o'clock in the afternoon of the 4th day of July, 1776, proclaimed the signing of the Declaration of Independence; and, WHEREAS, the adoption of this historic document marked the birth of our country as a free and independent nation; and, ^^ WHEREAS, it is fitting that the anniversary of this great event should be appropriately observed in the City of Fort Worth; and, WHEREAS, there will be a simultaneous four minute ringing of bells throughout the United States to start at 12:00 noon Fort Worth Time on July 4th to commemorate the ringing of the Liberty Bell in 1776; NOW, THEREFORE: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS: That the anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence should be observed by the ringing of bells throughout the r city at 12:00 noon Fort Worth time on the 4th day of July, and we hereby call upon civic and other community leaders to take appropriate steps to encourage public participation in such observance.
