Carter Foundation has proposed that a public park be acquired and developed with landscaping, pools, fountain and sculpture between the East-West Freeway and the Convention Center to serve the needs of the general citizenry for open snace and beauty and to enhance the appear- ance of the Convention Center and downtown Fort Worth; and, WHEREAS, the Amon G. Carter Foundation has offered to join with the City of Fort Worth in the development of an attractive entrance to the down- town area and a vista that will enhance and beautify the Convention Center; and, , WHEREAS, the Amon G. Carter Foundation proposes to participate in the purchase of land and development of a public park by nroviding funds up to $1,000,000.00, and also to participate by providing sculpture and fountains for the park area: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCTL Or THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TERAS, That, on behalf of all the citizens of our city, grateful acknowledg- ment be made and sincere appreciation be expressed to the Amon G. Carter Foundation, Amon G. Carter, Jr., Mrs. J. Lee Johnson, ITI, and Katrine Deakins for their magnificent proposal to join with the City of Fort Worth in acquiring and developing a park as an attractive entrance to the downtown area. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Secretary spread this resolution upon the Minutes of the City Council and furnish a copy hereof to the Carter Foundation.
