Smith was educated in the public schools at Crockett, Texas and attended Wiley, Samuel Huston, Prairie View, and Colorado State oo Uegse, and the Culinary Art SohooZ of Chicago, Illinois; and, WHEREAS, Mrs. Smith, aesisted by her late husband, V. S. Smith, Sr., raised, eduoatid and trained their three children to live lives of leadership and usefulness; and, WHEREAS, Mrs. Smith is a Zife-member of the Chamber of Commerce, the Y. W. C. A., and the Retired Teachers Association; and, WHEREAS, Lucille B. Smith was named "Merit Mother of Texas" for 2969 and received her citation from the Governor in ceremonies on Wednesday, April 24th, 2969: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS, That Lucille B. Smith be recognised and commended for her citation as "Merit Mother of Texas" and for her work in the fields of education, dietetics, civic development, and character building over a period of the last 50 years. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH,TTEXAS that this resolution be spread upon the minutes of the City Council and that a copy hereof be jUrnished to Mrs. Smith.
