A MENDRIAL
Edward 4artin Belcher was born on August 13, 1947, at
Fort Bragg, North Carolina. lie moved to Fort Worth at an early
age and attended the Fort Worth public schools. lie gratuated
from Paschal High School and attended Tarleton State College for
two years, majoring in history and Government.
Mr. Belcher was interested in his fellowman, and this
interest lead hies into police work and studies in sociology to
better serve the City of Fort Worth and its citizens.
Early Friday morning October 29, 1971,Officer Belcher
met his death in protection of the citizens of Fort Worth at the
hands of an assassin. He was a most courageous, fearless, and
impartial public servant. His death leaves an unfillable vacancy
in the Police Department of the City of Fort Worth. Fort Worth
has lost a most valuable municipal employee, an officer who was
highly respected by his co-workers and all who knew him.
NOW, T1iEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY 114E CITY COUNCIL OF
TFC CITY OF FORT WORTH:
That the City Council extend its utmost sympathy to his
widow, Mrs. E. M. Belcher, to his mother and father, Mr. and Mrs.
E. S. Belcher, and to other members of the family in their great
lass.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Memorial be spread upon
the minutes of the Council and that a copy be furnished the
family of Officer Belcher.
