WHEREAS. when the Dallas-Fort Worth Regional Airport becomes operational,
the present Greater Southwest International Airport and surrounding land will be-
came surplus property due to its proximity to the new airport; and,
WHEREAS, the Fort Worth City Council, in preparation for the abandmmt
Of GSIA, insofar as airport uses are concerned, appointed a committee canposed of
Mayor Pro tare Ted C. Peters, Chairman, and John Justin, M. B. Fleet, Paul Mason,
and Gene Cozart to advise the City Council on disposition of GSIA property to the
best advantage of the City; and,
WHEREAS, it was determined that approximately 76 acres of land across
Highway 360 from Greater Southwest International Airport is surplus property to
the City of Fort Worth; and,
WHEREAS, the committee appointed to advise the City Council on dis-
position of the surplus property assisted in negotiations that resulted in the
sale of these 76 acres for a total consideration of approximately $1,762,S00
and the City Council approved the sales contract at its meeting of June 12,
1972: NOW, 1lICRHFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS:
THAT sincere appreciation be expressed to the committee composed of
Mayor Pro tem Peters and Messrs. Justin, Fleet, Mason, and Cozart and that the
committee be cawended for its most diligent efforts on behalf of the City of
Fort Worth.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be spread upon the minutes
of the City Council and that a copy hereof be furnished to each of the committee
members.
