Call to Order at Fort Worth City Hall—Mayor Betsy Price With a quorum of the City Council Members present, Mayor Price called the Special Called meeting of the Fort Worth City Council to order at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at the South End of the Fort Worth City Hall (the Horseshoe), 200 Texas Street, Fort Worth, Texas 76102. II. Depart City Hall a. The tour will include a bus tour through the Stop Six/Cavile Place community in Council District 5 in Southeast Fort Worth. Tour of Stop Six/Cavile Place Community - Naomi Byrne provided information on the area and initiatives by Fort Worth Housing Solutions on redevelopment of the area. b. Presentations by City Staff on Planned Capital Investments in Stop Six/Cavile Place - Richard Martinez provided an update on streets, sidewalks and lights in the Stop Six/Cavile Place area - Richard Zavala provided information on parks and various properties in the area - Brandon Bennett provided information on protection of property and structures - Meeting Continues at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, 1901 Amanda Avenue, Fort Worth,Texas 76105 A press conference was held and Mayor Price summarized continuing improvements in the area and how the neighborhood would become a model pilot program for the City of Fort Worth. She recognized Ms. Christine Moss, Trustee at Fort Worth Independent School District and Mr. Frank Moss, former District 5 Council Member. Council Member Bivens addressed improvements in the area and efforts to continue redevelopment of the area. She praised the Police Substation in Cavile and asked that residents become familiar with what is being done by the City to improve the area by reading Council meeting agendas and attending Council Work Sessions. She advised of the new gated senior apartment complex that will be built in the area called Phoenix of Cavile, and added that tax foreclosed properties in the area will go up for sale. They both addressed questions and concerns of attendees at the press conference pertaining to special programs in schools for young mothers, literacy, street racing, trash and increased police presence. Press conference ended at 10:36 a.m. There being no further business, Mayor Price adjourned the Special Called meeting at 10:36 a.m. IV.
