HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 105 R E .S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, the City of Fort Worth and the City of Dallas heretofore entered into an agreement whereby an agency of the two parties was established to provide ground transporta- tion services for a region covered by the Dallas/Fart Worth Regional Airport, such agency being designated as D/FtJ SURTRAN SYSTEMI and, WHEREAS, pursuant to said agreement between the two Cities, a memorandum agreement was made by and between the Cities of Dallas and Fort worth and the Dallas/Fort worth Regional Airport Hoard to provide ground transportation to and from the Dallas/Fort Worth Regional Airport to said Cities, as well as elsewhere in the immediate region served by said Airport; and, WHEREAS, pursuant to said agreement between the Cities of Dallas and Fort Worth, the Dallas Transit System was designated as the Operator of the D/FW SURTRAN SYSTEM; and, WHEREAS, the Dallas Public Transit Board has requested the Cities of Dallas and Fort worth to file a joint appli- cation with the Department of Transportation„ United States of America, for a Capital Grant Project in the amount of $2,274,000 for the purchase of forty-five (45) passenger motor coaches, five (5) cars and two (2) trucks to be used as service vehicles and a two-way radio communication eye- tem, as well as for the construction of airport kiosks in order to equip SURTRAN to furnish passenger service to and from the Dallas/Fort worth Regional Airport; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Fort Worth Is of the opinion that it will be beneficial to the City of Fort Worth to make a joint application with the City of Dallas to the Department of Transportation, United States of America, for a capital grant for such purpose, and the City of Fort Worth agrees to commit said City in the amount of $170,400 as its part of the matching grant to be either in cash or in kind or a combination of both for said matching funds; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS: That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to make a joint application on behalf of the City of Fort Worth with the City of Dallas for a capital grant in the amount of $2,274,000 for the purchase of forty-five (45) motor coaches, five (5) cars and two (2) trucks to be used as service vehicles and a two-way radio communication system, as wo11 as for the construction of airport kiosks for the operation of the D//PW SURTRAN SYSTEM to serve the Dallas/Fort Worth Regional Airports and the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to cause to be deposited the entire amount received on the capital grant application from the Department of Trans- portation, United States of America, by the City of Fort Worth to the D/FW SURTRAN SYSTEM Special Fund Account and, in addi- tion thereto, he is further authorized to transfer an amount not to exceed $170,400 to the said D/FW SURTRAN SYSTEM Special Fund Account, as needed, as matching funds, with the City of Fort Worth having the option of using either cash, in kind property or a combination of both for use as matching funds.
