RESOLUTION Resolution No. Resolution authorizing the filing of an application with the Depart- ment of Transportation, United States of America, for a grant under the Urban Mass Transportation Act of 1964, as Amended. WHEREAS, the Secretary of Transportation is authorized to make grants for mass transportation projects; WHEREAS, the contract for financial assistance will impose certain obligations upon the applicant, including the provision by it of the local share of project costs; and WHEREAS, it is required by the U. S. Department of Transportation in accord with the provisions of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, that in connection with the filing of an application for �► assistance under the Urban Mass Transportation Act of 1964, as Amended, the applicant give an assurance that it will comply with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the U. S. Department of Transportation requirements thereunder: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS : 1. That the City Manager is authorized to execute and file an application on behalf of the City of Fort Worth with the U. S. Department of Transportation, for a financial grant in the amount of $6,000,000 to aid in financing the purchase of the following capital improvements: a) Acquisition of the physical equipment of the privately owned Fort Worth Transit Company. b) Purchase of 100 new 43 passenger air-conditioned diesel transit buses equiped with Environmental Improvement Packages, rebuild 39 existing buses to be retained by the system, and purchase spare units for the new buses. .m. c) Construction of a new office and maintenance facility on Brennan St. , including an office building, maintenance building, service station, all necessary site work, shop tools, service equipment and office furniture. d) Purchase of 15 Environmental Improvement Packages for installation on existing buses. e) Purchase of 126 lock type fare boxes and support equipment for the fare collection system, including a vault and coin sorter. a f) Purchase of 134 radios and 1 base station. g) Purchase of support vehicles, including 1 wrecker, 4 pick-up trucks, 10 auto cruisers, and 2 trucks. h) Purchase of auxilliary equipment, including 500 bus waiting benches, 55 bus shelters, and 2000 bus stop signs. Maximum - Estimated project cost------------------$9,000,000 Maximum - Federal Grant Requested (2/3 of cost)---$6,000,000 Maximum - Local Contribution (1/3 of cost)--------$3,000,000 2. That the local contribution will not exceed an amount of $3,000,000, and these funds will be made available as matching funds for the purchase of said capital improvements. 3. That the City Manager is authorized to execute and file with such application an assurance or any other document required by the U. S. Department of Transportation effectuating the A. purposes of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. 4. That Rodger N. Line, City Manager, is authorized to furnish such additional information as the U. S. Department of Trans- portation may require in connection with the application or the project. .r THE STATE OF TEXAS X COUNTY OF TARRANT X I, ROY A.
