Memorandum
To Paul Bounds Page 1
cc Joe King, PE
Subject Woodvale Sanitary Sewer and Waterline Improvements
From Matt Abbe
Date March 12, 2010
AECOM met with the City of Fort Worth on January 5,2010 to discuss the subject project and to
determine an advertisement date for the project. During the course of the meeting, there were a few
items that were discussed that add scope to the original contract.
The purpose of this memorandum is to identify these items from the aforementioned meetings and to
request additional compensation for these items. The items that AECOM is requesting additional
compensation are shown below:
1. AECOM has previously designed a waterline along Malaga Drive and Woodvale Drive that is
no longer necessary. As such, approximately 2500 linear feet of waterline will be removed
from the plans and contract documents. This removal of the line will affect the waterline
sheets, force main sheets, and storm water pollution plan sheets. The amount of effort to
revise these sheets is estimated at$3,100.
2. The City of Fort Worth wants the contractor to add Pressure Reducing Valves(PRVs) at each
water meter. It was decided that AECOM will include a general note in the plans for the
contractor to add the PRVs and necessary service line to connect the property owner to
water, and that the City would supply the specifications and details for the PRV. The City has
supplied the specifications for AECOM's use, however,AECOM will spend some effort to
review the specification and detail to make sure that it can be integrated into the plan set.
This effort is estimated at$2,150.
3. The City requested that the force main be sized to meet all lots within the area (both existing
and future). This is a scope change from the original contract, which had AECOM to design a
system that would be for existing residents only. The modified system will be designed to
meet both existing and future demands and it has been determined that one of the sewer
lines will have to be upsized from a 3-inch diameter line to a 4-inch diameter line. Thus
additional effort is required to modify the plans and contract documents for this change to the
sewer line. Both plans and contract documents will be modified to reflect the changes. The
effort is estimated at$1,505.
4. In the original contract,AECOM had included effort for construction phase services for the
force main, but not for the waterline. While AECOM understands that there is combined
effort in some items of construction phase services, such as meetings, preparing the bid-tab,
preparing recommendation for award, there is some effort that has not been included. This
effort includes responding to questions specific to the waterline during the bidding phase.
