WHEREAS, an application has been filed for the SURTRAN System with the
Urban Mass Transportation Administration, U. S. Department of Transportation, for
a capital grant which includes the purchase of 45 air-conditioned, diesel engine,
airporter type buses, said application being approved by the City Council of the
City of Dallas and the City Council of the City of Fort Worth on February 12, 1973;
and
WHEREAS, subsequently bus specifications were approved and bids were
advertised for the purchase of the aforementioned buses, including certain spare
parts and related equipment; and
WHEREAS, the GMC Truck and Coach Division, General Motors Corporaticst, was
the only bidder, said bid being for delivery of 45 air-conditioned, diesel engine,
airporter type buses in accordance with specification PA-9030-4594-72 (as amended);
and
WHEREAS, it is re ed by the Executive Manager of the SURTRAN System
that the GMC Truck and Coach Division, General Motors Corporation bid of
$2,344,799.90 ($52,106.66 per unit) be accepted, subject to the approval of the
application by the Department of Transportation, and the purchase of certain
spare parts and related equipment in the amount of $12,928.87 be included in the
original contract so that the agreement with the GMC Truck and Coach Division,
General Motors Corporation, will provide for the payment to said GMC Truck and
Coach Division, General Motors Corporation, the sun of $2,357,728.77 for the 45
motor coaches, plus the spare parts and related equipment, with $2,345,275.02 of
this sun to be included in the federally sponsored project TX-03-0013, and
$12,453.75, the total cost for 45 mobile page public address systems, will not
be a part of the federally sponsored project.
Now, Therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the Executive Manager of the SURTRAN System be and he is
hereby authorized to execute a contract with General Motors Corporation, GMC Truck
and Coach Division, for the purchase of 45 buses and spare parts and related
equipment in the amount of $2,357,728.77, with $2,345,275.02 to be charged to a
Special Bus Purchase Fund to be designated subject to and after the aforementioned
grant application has been approved by the Urban Mass Transportation Administration,
U. S. Department of Transportation.
SECTION 2. That the Executive Manager of the SURTRAN System is further
authorized to include in said contract 45 mobile page public address systems for
a total cost of $12,453.75 from the said General Motors Corporation, GMC Truck and
Coach Division,, to be charged to the SURTRAN Operating Fund, Account 919, Code Z-4.
SECTION 3. That this resolution shall be filed with the City Secretary.
SECTION 4. That this resolution shall take effect immediately from and
after its passage in accordance with the provisions of the Charter of the City of
Fort Worth and it accordingly so resolved.
