HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 124 RESOLUTION FILE Ncr r.. RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of Texas is currently considering an act designated as S. B. 98; and WHEREAS, such legislation makes probation available for municipal court offenses; and WHEREAS, the successful completion of probation is required to be reported to the State Department of Public Safety; and WHEREAS, the successful completion of probation may be used in determining whether a person's driving license may be suspended; and WHEREAS, the use of a successfully completed probation for such purposes would discourage offenders from requesting and from successfully completing probation: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Fort Worth expresses its approval of S. B. 98, now being considered by the Legislature of the State of Texas, save and except the provisions thereof requiring the reporting of probation to the State Department of Public Safety and allowing the use of probation in considering driver's license suspension; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Legislature of the State of Texas be requested to amend S. B. 98 to provide that completion of probation not be used for any purpose other than entitlement to future probation; and as so amended, to support S. B, 98.
