*a SUBJECT: PROPOSED COUNCIL-INITIATED ZONING CHANGES FOR
rrn f
CERTAIN PROPERTIES LOCATED IN THE LAKE ARLINGTON
AREA IN COUNCIL DISTRICT 5
The May 9th City Council agenda will contain an M&C to initiate the rezoning process for
approximately 1 ,887.5 acres, 2,056 parcels, in the Lake Arlington area in the Southeast
sector of Fort Worth. The purpose of the proposed zoning changes is to rezone residential,
non-residential, and vacant property to zoning classifications that are consistent with the
Comprehensive Plan and the Lake Arlington Master Plan. For your reference, the attached
PowerPoint presentation shows the future land use in the Comprehensive Plan, the current
zoning, and the proposed zoning.
A meeting was held for the affected property owners on February 2, 2017. One owner has
expressed opposition to the Council Member to date. Given the size of the area, staff has
divided it into a north half and a south half for two phases of zoning changes. Public
hearings for the rezoning of the north half would be held by the Zoning Commission on June
14 and by the City Council on June 20. Public hearings for the rezoning of the south half
would be held by the Zoning Commission on July 12 and by the City Council on August 1.
If you have any questions, please contact Dana Burghdoff, Assistant Planning and
Development Director, at 817-392-8018.
