RE-APPOINTING MEMBERS TO SERVE ON THE FORT WORTH ARTS
COMMISSION AND FILLING TWO VACANCIES DUE TO RESIGNATIONS
WHEREAS, the Fort Worth City Council created an Art Commission to act as an advisory
board to the City Council relating to all questions involving public art and the Fort Worth Public
Art Program, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Ordinance No 14794 each, Arts Commission member shall be
appointed by a ma~orrty vote of the City Council, and
WHEREAS, the Arts Commission shall advise and make recommendations to the Fort
Worth City Council regarding the Public Arts Program concerning administration of the public
art program, policies and procedures, artist selection, commission and placement of artworks,
maintenance and removal of artworks, and preparation of the recommendations for the annual
public art plan, and
WHEREAS, the Arts Commission is comprised of nine individuals. five (5) art professionals
of which at least one must be a practicing artist, one curator two design professionals, and four
community representatives, and
WHEREAS, m addition to having all appointments approved a majority vote of the City
Council, it is vitally important that these appointments include different perspectwes and
viewpoints to enhance the committee's decision-making process; and
WHEREAS,. pursuant to Ordinance No 14794 the initial terms for Place # 1 Place #3 Place
#5 Place #7 and Place #9 terminated on September 30 2003 The original members have
continued to serve m a holdover capacity
WHEREAS, two members of the Arts Commission resigned from Place #2 and Place # 8
The new appointments will serve the remainder of the terms.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS.
That the City Council hereby approves the following individuals to serve at the
pleasure of the city as members of the Arts Commission in the Places listed adjacent
to their nameā¢
Javier Aldape Place 1 Term to expire September 30 2005
Amtra Blayton Place 3 Term to expire September 30 2005
