HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 3106A Resolution No 3rv~ ESTABLISHING THE FORT WORTH ALARMS TASK FORCE AND APPOINTING MEMBERS WHEREAS, on October 7 and 14 2003 the City Council held public hearings on changing the city ordinance regarding intrusion alarm response; and WHEREAS, on October 14 2003 the City Council approved changes to the alarm response ordinance requiring a permit prior to a response and adJusting permit fees; and WHEREAS, the City Council and citizens who spoke to the City Council expressed a desire in Fort Worth to have a task force formed to review the use of intrusion alarms and the alarm response and other related issues. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS That the City Council, through the approval of this resolution, establishes an Alarms Task Force, which will be charged with reviewing statistics regarding alarm response, both prior to and following the changes to the alarm ordinance to determine the efficacy of the changes, conducting a review of national best practices, and reviewing state legislation, including recommending possible changes; and That Becky Britton, current Board Member of the Fort Worth Crime Control and Prevention District, will serve as the Chair of this committee and the committee will include one representative from the alarm companies, one member of the Fort Worth Police Department, and the following City Council appointees: District 2.
