HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 139 s17 � RESOLUTION FILE NO. _JZ9--- R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, the regulation of public utility rates, including water and sewer rates, is a matter of serious concern and significant responsibility to the cities of the State of Texas; and WHEREAS, H. B. 878 as introduced in the Legislature of the State of Texas would provide for the limitation of utility rates to a return of 8 per cent per annum based upon the value of the property of the utility defined as "original cost less book depreciation as reported to the United States Internal Revenue Service"; and WHEREAS, such approach is unduly restrictive and open to controversy in its application to the utility rate structures of cities and as written could be of serious harmful effect to such rate structure, and to the regulatory decision-making process: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH: That the City Council of the City of Fort Worth does hereby express its unanimous opposition to the adoption of H. B. 878, and respectfully solicits the assistance of the Tarrant County Legislative delegation, and all Texas Legislators, in opposition thereto: BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolution be furnished to each member of the Tarrant County delegation.
