REQUESTING THAT THE FORT WORTH CRIME CONTROL
AND PREVENTION DISTRICT ORDER AN ELECTION
REFERENDUM TO BE HELD ON FEBRUARY 5, 2005, ON THE
CONTINUATION OF THE CRIME CONTROL AND
PREVENTION DISTRICT AND ITS ONE-HALF CENT SALES
TAX FOR A PERIOD OF 5 YEARS.
WHEREAS, the current authorization for the Fort Worth Crime Control and Prevention
Distract created under Article 2370c-4 V.A.C S and now codified under Chapter 363 of the Texas
Local Government Code will expire on September 30 2005 and
WHEREAS, Chapter 363 of the Texas Local Government Code provides for a process by
which the Fort Worth Crime Control and Prevention District shall continue beyond September 30 2005
if an election is held and the ma~oraty of votes cast m said election are m favor of the continuation of the
District; and
WHEREAS, Chapter 363 further provides that the Board of Directors of the Fort Worth Crime
Control and Prevention District shall order said election if a ma~oraty of the Fort Worth Crty Council
' adopts a resolution requesting a continuation, after notice and public hearing on the matter and
~ WHEREAS, at its regular meeting of November 4 2004 the Fort Worth City Council, after
notice thereof as required by law held a public heanng on the question of whether to continue the Fort
Worth Crime Control and Prevention Distract, at which hearing all persons were given the opportumty to
present evidence on the matter and
WHEREAS, following said public hearing, the Fort Worth Crty Council desires that the Fort
Worth Crime Control and Prevention District and its one-half cent sales tax be continued for an
additional 5 years, and that the Board of Directors of the Distract order a referendum election to be held
on February 5 2005 on continuation of same;
NOW, THEREFORE, $E IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FORT WORTH, TEXAS

That the Fort Worth City Council requests the Board of Directors of the Fort Worth Cnme
Control and Prevention Distnct to order a referendum election to be held on February 5 2005 on the
~ continuation of the Distnct and its one-half cent sales tax for 5 years, at which election the qualified
voters residing m the Distnct shall have the opportunity to vote on the following proposition,
`Whether the Fort Worth Cnme Control and Prevention Distnct should be
continued for 5 years and the Cnme Control and Prevention Distnct sales
tax of one-half cent should be continued for 5 years.
