~' ~~ A Resolution NO ESTABLISHING A CITIZENS COMMITTEE ON FORT WORTH S FUTURE AND APPOINTING THE MEMBERSHIP WHEREAS, the Fort Worth City Council in response to the submission of a valid petition and to citizen concerns on the need for and public financing of a proposed convention center hotel agreed to set up a citizen committee named the `Citizens Committee on Fort Worth s Future and WHEREAS this citizen committee is being formed to seek more community input and gather more background information not only on the proposed hotel project but also on other hotel options and WHEREAS the committee will study Fort Worth s tourism opportunities the demand for and adequacy of the city's public events facilities and how increased tourism and convention business can benefit the community and WHEREAS the makeup of this citizen committee needs to be inclusive to accommodate representation of several important sectors of the community and WHEREAS in addition to having one appointment made by each member of the City Council it is vitally important that other appointments are made to the committee to include different perspectives and viewpoints to enhance the committee s work, deliberation and decision-making process and WHEREAS it is the desire of the Fort Worth City Council to name the membership of the Citizens Committee on Fort Worth s Future so that this important committee can begin its study and work immediately ~~ s NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH TEXAS That the City Council through this resolution establishes the `Citizens Committee on Fort Worths Future as a citizen committee charged to seek community input, gather additional information and deliver to the City Council recommendations related to the future of tourism and convention business in Fort Worth and That the City Council hereby names the following individuals to serve at the pleasure of the City Council as members of the Citizens Committee on Fort Worth's Future Mayor's appointment Council District 2 appointment Council District 3 appointment Council District 4 appointment Council District 5 appointment Council District 6 appointment Council District 7 appointment Council District 8 appointment Council District 9 appointment Community Leader Hotel/Hospitality Neighborhood Leader Neighborhood Leader Neighborhood Leader Stockyards Realtors Museum District Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Fort Worth Metropolitan Black Chamber Downtown Fort Worth Inc Ex-officio Convention. and Visitors Bureau City Manager's Office AND IT IS SO RESOLVED this. ;~ ,r .~~ ~. day of January 2003 Bob Bolen Chair Preston Phillips Vic Tinsley Preston Smith Bert Williams Kim Dignum Patti Crabtree Ross Haynes Lynn Montgomery Steve Hollern Bob Jameson Madelyn Rice Gibbs Eva Bonilla Rick Disney Joe Dulle Clay Brants Robert Lansford Tim Carter Neftali Ortiz Andre McEwing Marie Holliday John Stevenson Gary Jackson ~'~~D ~~G ~t[c ~~~ ;brr©lary ®~ ~ 3x Q ~v l~rf4! r •r
