SUPPORTING TARRANT COUNTY'S REQUEST TO THE
TEXAS PARKS & WILDLIFE DEPARTMENT TO DELAY SALE OF
EAGLE MOUNTAIN LAKE STATE PARK
WHEREAS the State bought the 400-acre Eagle Mountain Lake State Park 23 years ago for
$3 9 million with the intent of developing recreation facilities and
WHEREAS no funding was ever approved for the development of the property and
WHEREAS the 400-acre site is the only state parkland in Tarrant County and
WHEREAS the City of Fort Worth recognizes the importance of providing recreational and
educational opportunities for the citizens of Fort Worth, and
WHEREAS the Parks and Wildlife Commission is considering selling the land to private
developers and WHEREAS Tarrant County Commissioners Court has committed to provide
up to $1 million in actual and/or in-kind improvements for hiking and biking trails should the
State retain ownership of the property- and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FORT WORTH TEXAS

That the City of Fort Worth through this resolution supports Tarrant County's request to the
Texas Parks & Wildlife Commission fora 60-day delay in the sale of the land so the
Commission can carefully consider the County's proposal
That this resolution be distributed to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commissioners the Fort
Worth Legislative Delegation the House Speaker The Governor and the Lt. Governor
AND IT IS SO RESOLVED
