IN MEMORIAM
Marvin B. Shannon, Sr., was a native of Fort Worth, attended
school in Fort Worth and Austin, studied law at the University of Texas,
and was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1927.
Despite the fact that Mr. Shannon was physically blind, his
powers of sight and the range and field of his vision were unlimited.
His business accomplishments were legion, and his versatility in
innumerable fields was exemplified by his winning of the World Blind
Golf Championship in 1941.
He gave of himself unselfishly that others might enjoy life
more fully. He served his people, his area, and his city, The City of
Fort Worth, with unfailing devotion. His services to his city included
two full terms as a member of the City Council.
Mr. Shannon passed from this life on February 6, 1974. He
will be missed, but his indomitable good deeds, his courage, and his
unselfish contributions to his fellow men will remain and live forever,
Now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH,
