HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 185 RESOLUTION ALE NO. �J - RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the commemoration of our Nation's 200th anniversary will be Moak held in 1976; and WHEREAS , the City of Fort Worth wishes to tape an active part in the Bicentennial Celebration; and WHEREAS, the American Revolution Bicentennial Committee of Fort Worth was created by City Council action on October 15, 1973, composed of thirty-two members; and WHEREAS, the Fort Worth Bicentennial Committee was charged with the responsibility to plan, encourage, develop, and coordinate a Bicentennial Cele- bration in Fort Worth which consists of projects and activities involving the thematic areas of HERITAGE '76, FESTIVAL USA, and HORIZONS '76, and consistent with the theme of THE PROMISE OF AMERICA PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE. WHEREAS , the members of the American Revolution Bicentennial Committee of Fort Worth worked diligently to develop goals and prepare a Bicentennial Pro- gram for the City of Fort Worth; and WHEREAS, the goals will serve as a framework for guiding future develop- ment and expansion of the Bicentennial Program; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS: 1. That the Bicentennial Celebration Goals be hereby approved to guide the future development of the Fort Worth Bicentennial Program. 2. That the Bicentennial Program be hereby endorsed as the City of Fort Worth's Bicentennial Program. 3. That the members of the Fort Worth Bicentennial Committee be commended for their work and efforts and that appreciation be extended to all cooperating individuals and organizations. 4. That the citizens of the City of Fort Worth are hereby urged to aid and support Fort Worth's Bicentennial Program. 5. That the Fort Worth Bicentennial Committee is hereby requested to present the Goals and Bicentennial Program to the American Revolution Bicentennial Administration and American Revolution Bicentennial Commission of Texas for the endorsement of Fort Worth as a Bicentennial City and for the inclusion of Fort Worth in the National and State Bicentennial Programs. 6. That the Fort Worth Bicentennial Committee is encouraged to continue to expand Fort Worth's Program by the addition of projects consistent with the approved goals.
