J O I N T R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, the City of Mansfield, hereinafter called Mansfield, is
a City organized under the General Laws of the State of Texas, located
in Tarrant and Johnson Counties, Texas; with a population in excess of
five thousand (5,000) but less than twenty-five thousand (25,000) in-
habitants and an extraterritorial jurisdictional limit of one (1)
mile, and
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Worth, hereinafter called Fort Worth, iy
a Home Rule Municipal Corporation of Tarrant County, Texas; with a
population in excess of one hundred thousand (100,000) inhabitants and
an extraterritorial jurisdictional limit of five (5) miles, and
WHEREAS, Mansfield and Fort Worth have extraterritorial juris-
dictional areas which overlap, and
WHEREAS, the Texas Municipal Annexation Act (Art. 970a, Revised
Civil Statutes of Texas, as amended) provides that cities with over-
lapping extraterritorial jurisdictional areas may apportion the same
by written instrument, and
WHEREAS, Mansfield and Fort Worth find that apportionment of thea
overlapping extraterritorial jurisdictional areas will be to the benef t
of the citizens of both cities and their adjacent areas and will facili-
tate

tate the elements of planning and services which contribute to orderly
A growth and development of the regional areas;
{ NOW THEREFORE, BE IT JOINTLY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MANSFIELD AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH:
SECTION I
THAT a mutual common boundary line and extraterritorial jurisdic-
tional limit between Mansfield and Fort Worth be and the same is hereby
determined, fixed and established and the same is hereby particularly
described by metes and bounds as follows:
BEGINNING at a point for corner in the Easterly right-of-way
line of the Southern Pacific Railway, at its intersection
with the South right-of-way line of Cagle-Crow Road (County
Road No. 2162), which point of beginning is also in the Fort
Worth and Arlington common boundary line established by Joint
Resolution of record in Volume 5400, at Page 231 of the Deed
Records of Tarrant County, Texas, which point of beginning is
in, or near, the North Line of the Joseph Baker Survey, Abstract
No. 214.
THENCE Southeasterly and Southerly, along and with the Easterly
right-of-way line of the Southern Pacific Railway, approximately
6,200 feet to a point for corner at its intersection with the

South line of the Bessie B. Knapp 186.5 acre tract out of the
James McDonald Survey, Abstract No. 997.
THENCE South 45 degrees West, crossing the Southern Pacific Railway,
to and along and with the Southeasterly line of the T. H. Williams
102 acre tract out of the James McDonald Survey, in all 1,500 fee
to's point for corner in the Northeast line of the Garrett Gibson
Survey, Abstract No. 604.
THENCE North 45 degrees West, along and with the Northeast line o
the Garrett Gibson Survey, Abstract No. 604, a distance of 50 feet
to a point for corner which is 1,200 feet South 45 degrees East
from the Northeast corner of the Garrett Gibson Survey, Abstract
No. 604.
THENCE South 45 degrees West 1,900 feet to a point for corner.
THENCE South 45 degrees East 225 feet to a point for corner.
THENCE South 45 degrees West 850 feet to a point for corner in
the Southwest line of the Garrett Gibson Survey, Abstract No.
604 and the Northeast line of the James Gibson Survey, Abstract
No. 620.

THENCE North 45 degrees West 300 feet to a point for corner.
THENCE South 45 degrees West 2,600 feet to a point for corner in
the Southwesterly right-of-way line of Bennett-Lawson Road
(County Road No. 1088).
THENCE Southeasterly, along and with the Southwesterly right-of-
way line of Bennett-Lawson Road (County Road No. 1088), with its I�

meanders, to a point for corner at its intersection with the
Southerly right-of-way line of Retta-Mansfield Road (County Road
No. 1062). �
THENCE North 45 degrees East to a point for corner in the South-

westerly line of the James Bridgeman Survey, Abstract No. 186. "
THENCE South 45 degrees East, along and with the Southwesterly
line of the James Bridgeman Survey, Abstract No. 186, to a point 9
for corner at its intersection with the Northwesterly right-of-
way line of Lillian-Mansfield-Britton Road (County Road No. 2063).
THENCE South one (1) mile.

SECTION 2
THAT Mansfield hereby releases to Fort Worth all extraterritoria}
jurisdictional rights it may have in all area to the North and West of
the hereinabove described line.
SECTION 3
THAT Fort Worth hereby releases to Mansfield all extraterritorial,
jurisdictional rights it may have in all area to the South and East of
the hereinabove described line.
SECTION 4
THAT Mansfield and Fort Worth mutually covenant and agree to pro-
tect, preserve and defend this mutually agreed common boundary line and
extraterritorial jurisdiction agreement.

SECTION 5
THAT this agreement shall become binding upon Mansfield and Fort
Worth upon the adoption of this Joint Resolution in regular open City
Council meetings of Fort Worth and Mansfield.
SECTION 6
THAT this Joint Resolution, upon adoption by Mansfield and Fort
Worth, shall be executed in several originals and shall be transcribed
and spread in full upon the Minutes of both Cities.
SECTION 7
THAT the above referenced and described mutual common boundary line
and extraterritorial jurisdictional line is shown on Exhibit A, a map
attached hereto and expressly incorporated herein by reference for all
purposes.
